BETWEEN THE LINES, based in Ann Arbor, Mich., entered its 34th year of publication with its January 8, 2026, issue.

THE CURVE FOUNDATION, publisher of CURVE MAGAZINE, announced this year’s LESBIAN VISIBILITY WEEK will take place April 20-April 26, 2026.

CURVE MAGAZINE celebrated its 35th anniversary in its Spring 2026 issue.

GAY CITY NEWS, based in New York, N.Y., entered its 24th year of publication with its January 8, 2026, issue.

GLOSS, based in San Francisco, entered its 24th year of publication with its January 14, 2026, issue.

ION ARIZONA, based in Phoenix, celebrated its 25th anniversary in its January 2026 issue.

LAVENDER MAGAZINE, based in Minneapolis, published its 800th issue on January 22, 2026.

THE LOS ANGELES BLADE entered its 10th year of publication with its January 16, 2026, issue. The Los Angeles Blade and sister publication the Washington Blade also announced a media partnership with the OUT ATHLETE FUND, which will produce Pride House LA for the 2028 Summer Olympics. Pride House is the home for LGBTQ fans and athletes that will become a destination during the L.A. Summer Games in West Hollywood in partnership with the City of WeHo. The Los Angeles Blade will serve as the exclusive L.A.-area queer media sponsor for Pride House LA and the Washington Blade will support the efforts and amplify coverage of the 2028 Games.

THE MAP OF US, a limited podcast series that brings the findings of the LGBTQ+ Media Mapping Project to life, reached nearly 5,000 listens in its first two weeks of availability. Based on a national study of queer local media, the series examines where LGBTQ+ journalism exists, where it has disappeared, and what it takes to sustain it in a hostile and shifting media landscape. The Mapping Project documented hundreds of outlets across the U.S., revealing deep news deserts, widespread financial strain, rising safety concerns, and growing audience demand for trustworthy local queer reporting.

MARYLAND OUTLOUD, based in Baltimore, entered its second year of publication with its January 2026 issue.

MONTROSE STAR, based in Houston, Tex., entered its 16th year of publication in its current incarnation with its January 2026 issue.

NLGJA: THE ASSOCIATION OF LGBTQ+ JOURNALISTS is accepting applications for its CONNECT: Student Journalism Training Project, a multimedia journalism training program for college students and recent grads. OUTSFL, based in Wilton Manors, Fla., announced that KY WALKER is the recipient of its MELISSA ST. JOHN Scholarship. St. John is a beloved advocate and drag queen in South Florida. Launched by OutSFL, the scholarship awards $1,000 to an LGBTQ student in Florida who demonstrates a strong commitment to community service and giving back, with preference given to applicants whose service directly impacts the LGBTQ community or who live in South Florida. Walker is currently pursuing his master’s in social work at Florida Atlantic University.

PHILADELPHIA GAY NEWS celebrated its 50th anniversary in its February 19, 2026, issue, an 80-page commemorative issue.

PRESS PASS Q, the only trade publication for professionals working in LGBTQ media, enters its 28th year of publication with its current issue.

Q MAGAZINE, based in Key West, Fla., entered its 21st year of publication with its January 2026 issue.

SGN (SEATTLE GAY NEWS) entered its 54th year of publication with its January 2026 issue.

GWENDOLYN ANN SMITH celebrated the 25th anniversary of her TRANSMISSIONS column, based out of San Francisco’s BAY AREA REPORTER.

TAGG MAGAZINE, based in San Diego, announced that publication of its newsletter and new content on its website has been paused as editor SONDRA MORRIS recuperates from kidney surgery.

Windy City Times’ 2026 community journalism cohort

THE WASHINGTON BLADE entered its 57th year of publication with its January 2, 2026, issue. The newspaper also welcomed its new spring intern, SAM EPNER, a freshman at American University studying journalism and creative writing.

WATERMARK OUT NEWS, based in Orlando, Fla., entered its 33rd year of publication with its December 31, 2025, issue.

WINDY CITY TIMES, based in Chicago, announced its 2026 community journalism cohort. Six early-career and journalism-curious storytellers will learn the ins and outs of reporting on underserved communities this spring in Windy City Times and E3 Radio’s second-annual “Our Stories, Our Power” program. This year’s participants include PATIENCE HURSTON, a recent graduate from Columbia College Chicago, where they served as managing editor of the Columbia Chronicle; TYRIS MANNEY, a mental health advocate and founder of skincare line Tyris Manney Beauty; JORDAN “J.RO” ORDOÑEZ, a public health pharmacist turned artist with ties to Chicago’s street dance community; JASMINE RODRIGUEZ, a queer Chicana editor and poet and student at Northeastern Illinois University; RAHMYA TREWERN, a graduate from Michigan State University, where she studied journalism and digital storytelling; and MILANI VERALA, an Afro-Latinx drag queen and activist who serves at CALOR, an affiliate of AIDS Healthcare Foundation.
