BAY AREA REPORTER, based in San Francisco, won several awards from the San Francisco Press Club at the group’s December 9, 2025, gala. The newspaper took third place in Overall Excellence: Best Community Newspaper. In the Political/News Columns category, assistant editor MATTHEW S. BAJKO received third place for his Political Notebook column on the Presidio canceling its Pride event due to President Donald Trump’s executive orders. In the arts writing competitions, longtime freelance writer TIM PFAFF won second place in the Entertainment Review category for his piece on Ken Burns’ documentary about Leonardo da Vinci. Assistant editor JOHN FERRANNINI also joined the board of directors of the press club in 2025.
LOS ANGELES BLADE partnered with DANIEL COOLEY of Best Man Matchmaking for a December 23, 2025, free holiday singles’ mixer at the Abbey in West Hollywood.

OUT IN JERSEY, based in Trenton, entered its 31st year of publication with its December 2025/January 2026 issue.

OUTSFL, based in Wilton Manors, Fla., has been selected to join the 2025/2026 Economic Opportunity Lab, a national initiative launched in December 2025 by the LOCAL MEDIA ASSOCIATION and COMCAST NBCUNIVERSAL to support local journalism focused on economic mobility and opportunity. As part of this new partnership, the newspaper will receive funding and editorial support to explore the barriers and pathways to economic mobility within South Florida’s LGBTQ communities. Journalists will use tools like the Opportunity Atlas to examine how place, policy, and identity intersect — and what that means for local residents working toward stability, security, and upward mobility.
JEROME PARMER, a contributing photographer to the SAN FRANCISCO BAY TIMES, snapped images that provided key details regarding the shooting of prominent LGBTQ advocate Rev. JORGE BAUTISTA by a federal agent on October 23, 2025. Bautista was injured during a protest against a planned surge of federal immigration agents to the Bay Area.
SAN FRANCISCO BAY TIMES spotlighted artwork from artist and San Francisco Arts Commissioner DEBRA WALKER for the cover of its November 20, 2025, issue honoring Speaker Emerita NANCY PELOSI, who announced earlier that month that she will be retiring in 2027 after 39 years of public service.
