BAY AREA REPORTER, based in San Francisco, was the recipient of the Legacy Award from NLGJA: THE ASSOCIATION OF LGBTQ JOURNALISTS on September 22, 2022, at the group’s annual convention. NLGJA board president SHARIF DURHAMS presented the honor to CYNTHIA LAIRD, the newspaper’s news editor. In her remarks, Laird acknowledged publisher and owner MICHAEL YAMASHITA, the paper’s staff, and contributors. According to NLGJA, the award was created to recognize an outlet, publication, or news organization that has exhibited innovative, high-quality, and sustained news coverage of the LGBTQ community over an extended period of time. The newspaper celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2021.

CHRIS CASH, founder of Atlanta-based GEORGIA VOICE, was inducted into the LGBTQ JOURNALISTS HALL OF FAME by NLGJA: THE ASSOCIATION OF LGBTQ JOURNALISTS on September 22, 2022, at the group’s annual convention. Cash was the original founder, publisher, and executive editor of the then-named SOUTHERN VOICE until she sold the newspaper in 1997, nine years after its founding in 1988.

GAYDESERTGUIDE.COM, based in Palm Springs, Calif., entered its 10th year of publication on August 30, 2022.

GET OUT!, based in New York City, published its 500th issue on September 5, 2022.

ROBERT KESTEN is the new executive director of the STONEWALL NATIONAL MUSEUM & ARCHIVES in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

TAGG MAGAZINE, based in Washington, D.C., celebrated its 10th anniversary in its July/August 2022 issue.
