BETWEEN THE LINES, based in Livonia, Mich., entered its 30th year of publication with its January 13, 2022, issue.

THE BLADE FOUNDATION, a nonprofit that funds enterprise journalism projects and scholarships for aspiring journalists, announced in December that its $3,000 scholarship would go to MEGHAN BRINK, a political science and journalism student at the University of Albany, SUNY.

Seattle Gay News’ Ken Campbell

KEN CAMPBELL, illustrator, graphic designer and resident cartoonist at SEATTLE GAY NEWS, passed away on December 13, 2021. He was 50.

WESLEY COMBS, co-founder of Washington, D.C.-based WESLEY COMBS COMMUNICATIONS, has been named the new president of CAMP REHOBOTH in Rehoboth Beach, Del. The organization publishes the monthly LETTERS FROM CAMP REHOBOTH.

MICHAEL D’OLIVEIRA, a former reporter and editor at SOUTH FLORIDA GAY NEWS, has purchased NEW PELICAN, a community newspaper serving Broward County. He services as the publisher and editor in chief.

GAY CITY NEWS, based in New York City, entered its 21st year of publication with its January 13, 2022, issue.

THE GAYLY DOSE, a podcast produced by GEORGIA VOICE, launched its second season on January 4, 2022.

THE GAZETTE, based in Wilton Manors, Fla., and a supplement to SOUTH FLORIDA GAY NEWS, entered its ninth year of publication with its January 6, 2022, issue.

ARNIE KANTROWITZ, a teacher and early New York activist, passed away on January 21, 2022 at the age of 81. He was a leader of the Gay Activists Alliance in 1970 and was a professor of English at the College of Staten Island until 2006.

THE LOS ANGELES BLADE entered its sixth year of publication with its January 7, 2022, issue.

OUTPOST, based in Ann Arbor, Mich., entered its 30th year of publication with its January 2022 issue.

PEACH, based in Atlanta, entered its sixth issue of publication with its January 5, 2022, issue.

BRUCE PETTIT, former reporter with San Francisco’s BAY AREA REPORTER in the 1970s, passed away on January 20, 2022, just 11 days before his 77th birthday. He was in hospice and had been suffering from longterm heart disease.

PHILADELPHIA GAY NEWS entered its 46th year of publication with its December 31, 2021, issue.

Q MAGAZINE, based in Key West, Fla., entered its 17th year of publication with its January 2022 issue.

SEATTLE GAY NEWS (SGN) virtually hosted part of the NATIONAL AIDS MEMORIAL QUILT in December 2021, in recognition of World AIDS Day. in remembrance of the newspaper’s former editor and publisher GEORGE BAKAN who passed away on June 7, 2020.

SOUTH FLORIDA GAY NEWS (SFGN), based in Wilton Manors, Fla., entered its 13th year of publication with its January 6, 2022, issue.

THE WASHINGTON BLADE entered its 53rd year of publication with its January 7, 2022, issue.

WATERMARK, based in Orlando, Fla., entered its 29th year of publication with its January 6, 2022, issue.

WINDY CITY TIMES, based in Chicago, was named the 2021 recipient of the Legacy Award from NLGJA: THE ASSOCIATION OF LGBTQ JOURNALISTS.
