SGN’s new owner and publisher Renee Raketty

CURVE MAGAZINE, the national magazine for lesbians, bisexual, transgender, and queer women and non-binary people, hosted “Collect & Connect: Curve Magazine Archive Celebration” on October 13, 2024, in Houston to celebrate the Curve archive as part of the LGBTQ+ History Research Collection at the University of Houston Libraries.

LAS VEGAS SPECTRUM, which has published infrequently since the COVID-19 pandemic, has published a special 32-page election guide, including endorsements and recommendations in nearly 60 races.

NEWS IS OUT, a collaboration of six legacy LGBTQ media outlets, launched the first LOCAL LGBTQ+ MEDIA GIVING DAY on October 8, 2024, to raise funds and celebrate LGBTQ History Month.

OPTIONS, based in Providence, R.I., hosted its third annual Options Awards Party on October 15, 2024.

OUTFAU, the student newspaper at Florida Atlantic University and owned by Wilton Manors-based OUTSFL, entered its second year of publication with its August 2024 issue.

QUEER NEWS NETWORK, a coalition of 11 LGBTQ news outlets across the country, has launched to cover this year’s elections. From October 1 to November 12, participating newsrooms will identify candidates and contribute content to https://queernn.com which will serve as a central hub for LGBTQ voters.

SGN (SEATTLE GAY NEWS) announced in June 2024 that RENEE RAKETTY, the newspaper’s editor, is the new owner and publisher. She replaces MIKE SCHULTZ, who bought the newspaper in September 2023 and is relocating to California.

THE WASHINGTON BLADE published White House reporter CHRISTOPHER KANE’s sit-down Oval Office interview with President JOE BIDEN on September 20, 2024, a first for an LGBTQ newspaper.
