THE CURVE FOUNDATION, publisher of CURVE MAGAZINE, held a live and free virtual panel entitled “Reclaiming the Word Lesbian: An inclusive discussion on queer identity and media” on October 7, 2026. Panelists included FRANCO STEVENS, founder of Curve; MERRYN JOHNS, editor of Curve; SUNNY LEERASANTHANAH, director of communications and engagement at the Curve Foundation; LAILA ANNMARIE STEVENS, freelance photojournalist and 2025-26 recipient of the Curve Fellowship for Emerging Journalists; and DIANE ANDERSON-MINSHALL, executive director of GALECA: The Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics and former editor-in-chief of Curve.
THE EQUALITY FORUM, based in Philadelphia, released its list of LGBT History Month icons for 2026. They include U.S. Congressman CHRIS PAPPAS of New Hampshire, novelist PATRICIA HIGHSMITH, media mogul BARRY DILLER and comedian and writer AMBER RUFFIN.
OUTSFL, based in Wilton Manors, Fla., has been selected as one of the inaugural recipients of a Press Forward South Florida Newsroom Strength Grant, an investment designed to help local news organizations build stronger and more sustainable operations. The award provides OutSFL with a sustainability audit from LION (Local Independent Online News) Publishers, a year of monthly coaching with a LION sustainability coach and a $20,000 stipend to implement recommendations identified through the audit.
THE SAN FRANCISCO BAY TIMES announced that all of its issues, from its founding in the 1970s to the present, are now available online at Digital SF (1978-2012) and at the newspaper’s website via ISSUU (2012-present). The complete digitization was a multi-year effort made possible by the San Francisco Public Library, CRISTINA MILLER and DEE DEE KRAMER of The Hormel LGBTQIA Center, California Revealed, and the newspaper’s publishers.
THE WASHINGTON BLADE hosted a fundraiser for the BLADE FOUNDATION entitled “If We Don’t Tell Our LGBTQ Stories, Who Will?” It was held on September 12, 2026, in Rehoboth Beach, Del.
WINDY CITY TIMES, based in Chicago, celebrated its 41st anniversary in September 2026.
