BOSTON SPIRIT MAGAZINE entered its 21st year of publication with its January/February 2025 issue.
THE BUCKEYE FLAME, based in suburban Cleveland, Ohio, held its Rainbow Bikes charity spin class on June 10, 2025, with all proceeds benefiting the news outlet.
GED MAGAZINE (GAY ENTERTAINMENT DIRECTORY), based in Los Angeles, entered its 13th year of publication with its June 2025 issue.

ABIGAIL HATTING was announced by the WASHINGTON BLADE’s BLADE FOUNDATION as this year’s recipient of the STEVE ELKINS Memorial Fellowship in Journalism. Hatting is a senior at American University who has served as local news editor at THE EAGLE student newspaper at AU and an intern at VOICE OF AMERICA NEWS. Hatting will cover issues of interest to Delaware’s LGBTQ community for 12 weeks this summer. The fellowship is named in honor of Elkins, a journalist and co-founder of the CAMP Rehoboth LGBTQ community center. Elkins served as editor of LETTERS FROM CAMP REHOBOTH for many years as well as executive director of the center before his death in March 2018. Hatting is the eighth recipient of the Elkins fellowship.
HOTSPOTS, based in Wilton Manors, Fla., entered its 40th year of publication with its January 2, 2025, issue.
THE LOS ANGELES BLADE hosted its eighth annual Best of LGBTQ L.A. awards show on May 22, 2025, at The Abbey in West Hollywood.
METRO WEEKLY, based in Washington, D.C., celebrated its 31st anniversary in its May 2, 2025, issue.
OUT FRONT MAGAZINE (OFM), based in Denver, entered its 49th year of publication with its April 2025 issue.
OUTSFL, based in Wilton Manors, Fla., published its 100th issue on April 24, 2025. The newspaper held its Mizz OutSFL Pageant on May 19 at The Aquaplex in Fort Lauderdale and its OutSFL Pride Gala on May 22 at The Crystal Ballroom at The Venue in Wilton Manors. Both events support LGBTQ college scholarships.
PHILADELPHIA GAY NEWS hosted its 2025 Stonewall Awards Brunch on June 1, 2025. The Stonewall Awards is an annual ceremony that honors local people and organizations that have made a positive impact on the LGBTQ community. This year’s event was emceed by 6ABC’s ADAM JOSEPH and was streamed live on WPVI Channel 6. Joseph, a native Philadelphian, rose to prominence as the city’s first major on-air news personality to come out publicly. He has worked as the meteorologist at WPVI since 2005.
THE WASHINGTON BLADE’s 18th annual Summer Kickoff Party was held May 16, 2025, in Rehoboth Beach, Del. Speakers included Delaware Gov. MATT MEYER and ASHLEY BIDEN, daughter of President JOE BIDEN who accepted an award on behalf of her late brother BEAU BIDEN for his LGBTQ advocacy work as Delaware attorney general. The event was a fundraiser for the BLADE FOUNDATION’s STEVE ELKINS Memorial Fellowship in Journalism.
WINDY CITY TIMES, based in Chicago, celebrated 40 years of publication with a special exhibit, “Windy City Times @40: Breaking News, Breaking Silence,” at the city’s Gerber/Hart Library & Archives. An opening reception was held May 30, 2025, featuring a conversation with newspaper co-founder TRACY BAIM and historian JOHN D’EMILIO. The exhibit will be on display in the Sandfield Exhibition Gallery through January 2026.
