BLACKLINES and EN LA VIDA, two specialty publications covering Chicago’s Black and Latin LGBTQ communities, have been relaunched as monthly WINDY CITY TIMES newsletters. The two publications previously ran monthly from 1996 to 2004. They were first published by OUTLINES newspaper, which merged with WINDY CITY MEDIA GROUP in 2000.

GLAAD announced its nominees for its 36th Annual GLAAD Media Awards, with a number of LGBTQ media outlets getting recognition. The BARBARA GITTINGS Award for Excellence in LGBTQ Media will be presented to Q.DIGITAL, the parent company of LGBTQ Nation. In the Outstanding Print Article category, nominees include THE ADVOCATE, QUEER KENTUCKY and the WASHINGTON BLADE. Outstanding Magazine Overall Coverage nominees include THE ADVOCATE, OUT and Washington, D.C.’s METRO WEEKLY. Outstanding Online Journalism Article nominees include Ohio’s THE BUCKEYE FLAME, ADVOCATE.COM and THEM.US. Outstanding Online Journalism nominees include OUTSPORTS.COM and LOGOTV.COM. Outstanding Independent Journalism nominees include THE BUCKEYE FLAME, GAYE MAGAZINE, QUEER NEWS DAILY, THE QUEER REVIEW and TRANSLASH MEDIA. Special Recognition nominees include OUTLOUD and Q.DIGITAL.

MICHAEL K. LAVERS, the WASHINGTON BLADE’s international news editor, was on assignment in Mexico and El Salvador through February 8, 2025, to cover the impact of the new administration’s immigration policy on LGBTQ migrants and asylum seekers.
OUTSFL’s reigning Queen of Queens MELISSA ST. JOHN won the bronze medal in the Best Local Drag Queen category by GAYCITIES in their annual International Best of GayCities 2024 competition.
