THE BUCKEYE FLAME, based in suburban Cleveland, Ohio, celebrated its fifth anniversary on June 23, 2025. To mark the occasion, the publication released its inaugural Impact Report, an overview of its first five years. LOU CHIBBARO JR, senior reporter at the WASHINGTON BLADE, is the subject of the new short documentary film LOU’S LEGACY: A REPORTER’S LIFE from the MATTACHINE SOCIETY and director PATRICK SAMMON. It was broadcast during Pride Month on PBS stations in Washington, D.C., and Maryland. It is also available on the PBS app, PBS.org and WETA.org.

BARRY LEAVITT, vice president of sales and advertising at Minneapolis-based LAVENDER MAGAZINE, was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award from QUORUM, Minnesota’s LGBTQ chamber of commerce, on May 22, 2025.

THE LOS ANGELES BLADE and CALÒ NEWS, a publication covering the city’s Latin community, hosted “Diàlogo — Pride, Power & Progress,” at The Abby in West Hollywood on June 26, 2025. Speakers included ALEXANDER RODRIGUEZ, publisher of the LA Blade; GISSELLE PALOMERA, the LA Blade’s editor; ESPERANZA GUEVARA, managing director of the LATINO MEDIA COLLECTIVE; and ANDRES PALENCIA, CEO and co-founder of LATINATION.

NEWS IS OUT, an LGBTQ media consortium, hosted TRAVEL PROUDLY, a virtual event celebrating LGBTQ travel and community, on June 16, 2025. Panelists included travel content creators MICHAEL AND MATT as well as LINDSAY CALE, digital coordinator for EVERYQUEER.

NLGJA LOS ANGELES, the LA chapter of the National Association of LGBTQ+ Journalists, will present its inaugural journalism awards on July 26, 2025.

THE OUR FUND FOUNDATION is the sponsor of a new op-ed series in OUTSFL, based in Wilton Manors, Fla., with the goal of elevating the voices of South Florida’s transgender community.

OUTSFL, based in Wilton Manors, Fla., celebrated its second anniversary on June 1, 2025. The newspaper also published its 100th issue on April 24, 2025.

MARK SEGAL, founder and publisher of PHILADELPHIA GAY NEWS as well as a pioneer of the Stonewall Rebellion, appeared live at the Stonewall National Monument Visitors Center in New York City on June 27-28, 2025.

THIS NEWS IS SO GAY, a new weekly podcast featuring a rotating panel of LGBTQ reporters from across the country, launched July 2, 2025.

THE WASHINGTON BLADE has supplied archival photos for the walls of a new Pride-themed suite at the Eaton Hotel in Washington, D.C.

JEREMY WILLIAMS stepped down from his post as editor in chief of Orlando, Fla.-based WATERMARK OUT NEWS in June 2025 to pursue new opportunities in New York City.
