ROGER BRIGHAM, the former “Jock Talk” sports columnist at the San Francisco-based BAY AREA REPORTER, passed away on March 5, 2025, after a long battle with renal and cardiac issues. He was 71.
THE CURVE FOUNDATION, publisher of CURVE MAGAZINE, produced its annual LESBIAN VISIBILITY WEEK April 21-27, 2025.
THE LOS ANGELES BLADE kicked off its free community event series with “Time To Get Informed, Time To Resist,” hosted by The Abbey in West Hollywood on April 19 as an open forum to present the current political climate as it affects Southern California for the queer community and beyond.
FRANK PIZZOLI, former publisher and editor of Harrisburg, Penn.-based CENTRAL VOICE, has published his new book, “Passionate Outlier: Gay Writers and Allies on Their Work.” The book is available from Rebel Satori Press, Barnes & Noble and Amazon.
KEITH ST CLARE, editor and publisher of early LGBTQ San Francisco magazine VANGUARD, passed away on March 25, 2025, at an assisted living facility in Richmond, Tex. He was 79.
JODY AMELIA-ANN VALLEY, the former “Dear Jody” columnist with Michigan’s BETWEEN THE LINES, passed away on December 28, 2024. She was 82.

THE WASHINGTON BLADE announced that its annual Pride on the Pier event will take place on June 6 and 7, 2025, at The Wharf. The WorldPride Boat Parade will take place on June 6, and the Pier Party and fireworks show will be held on June 7.
WINDY CITY TIMES, based in Chicago, announced the six participants in its paid five-week Spring 2025 “Our Stories, Our Power” cohort. This year’s participants are GABRIELLA GLADNEY, KEVIN JACKSON, JINNY KIM, IVAN ORTIZ, REYNA ORTIZ and CHIJOKE “CHI” WILLIAMS. The course is supported by a grant received from PRESS FORWARD NATIONAL, a funder collaborative led by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation that is dedicated to strengthening and sustaining local news.
