ADELANTE, based in Los Angeles, entered its 28th year of publication with its June 2024 issue.

THE BUCKEYE FLAME, based in Berea, Ohio, just outside Cleveland, celebrated its fourth anniversary last month and announced that it is opening a brick and mortar newsroom later this summer. It is also hiring what it calls the country’s only known rural LGBTQ beat reporter.

LAVENDER MAGAZINE, based in Edina, Minn., announced that BARRY LEAVITT, vice president of sales and advertising, celebrated his 25th anniversary with the publication on April 12, 2024. On May 30, the magazine published its 25th Pride edition.

NEWS IS OUT, a national collaborative of leading local LGBTQ news publishers, celebrated its second anniversary in May 2024.

OUT FRONT MAGAZINE, based in Denver, unveiled its new app, available for download on the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store.

PHILADELPHIA GAY NEWS is a 2024 Association of Alternative Newsmedia Awards finalist. Editor JEREMY RODRIGUEZ is a finalist in the column category, and JEN COLLETTA is a finalist in the LGBTQ+ coverage category. Publisher MARK SEGAL, JASON VILLEMEZ, GARY L. DAY and MICHELE ZIPKIN are collectively finalists in the “right-wing extremism coverage” category.

GREGG SHAPIRO, a freelance journalist whose work has appeared in many LGBTQ newspapers across the country, led a discussion group June 20 at  the downtown library in Boca Raton, Fla., entitled “Introduction to Pride Authors from South Florida.”

WATERMARK, based in Orland, Fla., is a 2024 Association of Alternative Newsmedia Awards finalist for its 2023 Wedding Guide.

RIKI WILCHINS, an award-winning trans author and activist, has published her new book with Riverdale Avenue Books. The book, entitled BAD INK, argues and investigates how and why the NEW YORK TIMES has become the nation’s leading voice for attacking transgender children.

WINDY CITY TIMES, based in Chicago, has revived its 30 Under 30 Awards with a ceremony June 6 at the Chicago headquarters of LinkedIn.
